Antoine Jean Baptiste Marie Roger de Saint-Exupéry, better known as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (Lyon, June 29, 1900 - Mediterranean Sea, at Île de Riou, 31 July 1944) was a French writer and aviator.
He is known in the world for being the author of the famous novel The little prince, translated into 253 languages, but also for his stories about the world of the first airplanes, including Flight at Night, Earth of Men Aviator. He was recognized writer and won several literary awards during his life, in France and abroad.
During the Second World War he enlisted in the French military air force after the armistice in the Forces aériennes françaises libres by the Allies. His death in flight, after the end of the war, remained mysterious for many years, until in 2004 the wreckage of his plane was located and hit by a cacciato in the sea in front of the Martian coast. It was a Luftwaffead pilot who was knocking down the plane. On June 29, 2000, in the centenary of his birth, he was named Lyon's airport, so far called Lyon Satolas. (by Wikipedia)
